ARTICLES OF FAITH
Bible Fellowship Church, Greenville, Ohio

A) We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, supernaturally inspired, so that it is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal, plenary inspiration, so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. II Tim. 3:15-17; II Pet. 1:19-21.

B) We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--and that these three are one God. Deut 4:35; 6:4; Dan 4:25; John 10:30; I Cor. 8:6; II Cor. 13:14, Eph 4:4-6.

C) We believe in God as absolute and sole creator of the universe, and that creation was by divine command, not through evolutionary process. Gen. 1, 2; John 1:3; Col. 1:16-17.

D) We believe that God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners. Luke 19:10; John 3:16; Rom 5:8; Tim. 1:15.

E) We believe that Jesus Christ, in the flesh, was both God and man, that He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life, in which He taught and wrought mighty works and wonders and signs exactly as revealed in the four Gospels. He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, and was raised from the dead, bodily, on the third day.  Later, He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers, and from whence He is coming again personally, bodily, visibly to this earth to set up His  millennial kingdom. Isa. 7:14, Zech 4:14a; Luke 1:35; 24:51; John 1:14; 2:1; Romans 3:25; Heb. 4:14; Rev. 20:6.

F) We believe that by His death, by His shed blood, the Lord Jesus Christ made a perfect atonement for sin, redeeming us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. When men are saved by placing their trust in Jesus Christ, they are justified on the simple and single ground of the shed blood. Rom. 4:25; II Cor. 5:21; Heb 9:22b; I John 4:10.

G) We believe that such salvation with its forgiveness of sins, its impartation of a new nature, and its hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership--or man's effort--and is of pure grace. Rom 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7.

H) We believe that a true believer is eternally secure, that he cannot lose his salvation, but that sin may interrupt the joy of his fellowship with God and bring the loving discipline of his Heavenly Father. John 10:28-29; Rom. 8:35-39; Phil. 1:6; Heb 12:5b-6, 10b.

I) We believe that all who receive Christ become joint-heirs with Christ, and at death, their spirits depart to be with Christ in conscious blessedness, and at the rapture their bodies will be raised to the likeness of the body of His glory and dwell forever in His divine presence. Luke 23:43; Rom. 8:17; Gal. 4:7; I Thes. 4:15-17.

J) We believe that it is the goal of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God and the indwelling Spirit. Eph. 4:15; II Tim. 1:3; II Pet. 3:18.

K) We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person, is God, and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of their salvation, and fills them in response to their confession of sin and yieldedness to Him. John 14:16-17; Acts 11:16; Eph. 1:13-14; 5:18.
